I see ya'll talking about flukes a lot and how they put a lot of fish on your line and I'm looking for some help.

 

I'm going to bass pro tonight to get a few more packs of senko's[i needed a bag in a pinch last week at WalMart & all they had was baby bass, well I caught 4 today in an hour with 'em.] and I'm wondering which I should look at getting?

 

I also am unsure of technique when working them. Do colors correlate with colors of senko's and when to fish them? 

Theoretically speaking, flukes mimmic baitfish like minnows, so "minnow like" colors is what rules ( pearl, disco violet, pearl and silver flake back ) and such. Personally I don't think it matters, I've caught fish with every fluke color available.

The answer, is a question, are you talking about senkos? Zoom Flukes,? or both? I think Iam having a bad fishing answer day!!!

So, who's the "better" maker of these? Zoom, i'm assuming?[uneducated guess].

Trig on top, use them on a donkey rig, use with a jig head or a under spin , Carolina rig.... I like twistlock hooks with just a bit of weight... They dart really well, I think most folks use them to work grass beds, etc..zoom and other company's make good ones too, most company's have a fluke shape in their line up

Yes the 5". They're a great soft jerkbait with great action. One of my favorite plastics.

Another vote for the KVD Caffeine Shad. Softer and heavier than the Zoom flukes.

I got to bass pro just as they were closing and folded and got Zoom White Pearl for the first batch here. I just have these 3 EWG hooks with a keeper, they should work well. 

I had one heck of an evening yesterday fishing the white pearl Zoom super fluke with the tail dipped in Chartreuse JJ's.  Enjoy!

The best for me is the smokin shad. For the 5" I typically use a 4/0 worm hook (not ewg, you don't need ewg with the hook cavity). 

 

When I just want to catch a bunch of fish then its the super fluke jr in smokin shad on a 2/0 worm hook. That thing is a riot to fish and the smallies cannot resist it. 

 

I like to jerk the slack line so the bait walks side to side just under the surface. When it breaks the surface I give it a good hard pop and it will jump clean out of the water. That absolutely drives bass nuts!!! The key is to go all the way through the nose of the bait to the hook slot, then pull the hook eye back into the fluke so you have a huge nose. That will make the bait walk much easier. 

I have had my best luck with White Ice and Bait Fish but like was said earlier, I'm not sure the color really matters all that much.
