Weekend Bassin'

Featured Replies

Well, I woke up yesterday at about 10:00 and my dad apparently had planned a day at the lake. We headed up to Kaercher Creek Lake in Hamburg, PA to land some bass and search for a musky. We read that the day before, a guy landed this 50 inch, 31 lb musky on a whopper plopper.

He caught a sunny and threw it on a bobber trying to get something bigger as we fished a weed bed off a shallow shore. He had absolutely no luck, he threw a field mouse; a rat-l trap and a yellow & red flat fish -- nodda.

I however, was opposite him on the shoreline, wading out to my knee's throwing out a baby bass senko. I brought in about 4 in an hour. Nothing spectacular, normal sized largemouth's. Well, fast forward to today.

Woke up and he had planned to go to Pinchot in York/Lewisbury. Absolutely no luck for the first hour as we were throwing over some big boulders. I tried my newly purchased flukes, nodda. Squarebills and spinnerbaits -- nodda. After I persuaded him to move spots, we went over towards the dam where there were some orange buoys. After no luck there for about 45 minutes, he told me to put on the worm 'cause that's what I catch fish on....YET he won't ever use 'em when he see's me pulling fish out. Sure enough, threw it on and tossed it right in front of a few buoys before the dam and landed this monster. Definitely made the trip worth it, nothing better than a little father son time.
