Reusing Powerbait Worms

Featured Replies

For those of you that fish with Powerbait worms (scented) do you leave your worm on the hook until your next fishing trip or do you always start with a new stinky one out of the bag?

I don't leave it on the hooks but I slide it back off and put it in the top of my tackle box with all my other used plastics, those power bait worms hold up pretty well and can be used for while, if the top gets to messed up just tear of the top 1/2 inch lol I don't care for the scent of those worms much so I don't mind the fact it loses some of its scent

I take used plastics off at the end of the day and if they are still hook-able I'll put them back in the bag to be used again. I guess I'm cheap like that.

I have two Tupperware containers I keep in the boat. Reusable soft plastics go in one, to be reused. Badly damaged baits go in the other to be disposed of at home. I don't leave any on the hooks when I'm done fishing.

Not only should you take off worms after each trip, you should cut off the hooks! Knots on mono or FC weaken if tied more than 24 hours. Save the hooks, check for sharpness, resharpen, re use or discard damaged hooks.

Power worm loose scent when exposed to air or water, fresh is always better. Don't mix used with new worms, keep them in separate zip lock bags. You can use Mend-It glue to weld the damaged nose area to reused any worm. With Power worm it's best to lightly abrade the used worm body with sand paper to renew the scent, opens up the plastic.
