Whp is making their own chatter type baits?

Featured Replies

Anyone buying the components and assembling their own?  I noticed components are available.  Any recommendations to tackle supply that has quality components and is reputable?

There is a local guy here in this area that is making his version of the CB, only he is using a round blade instead of the "coffin shaped" one.  One of the guys in our local club recently caught his limit using only one of these knock-offs.  He is marketing them and selling them at the local Scheel's where he has an inside track with the management.  Don't know if he has taken them to another level or not.

after just receiving my order from RAD that i placed on 3-05-06, and seeing how they actually made the bait cheaper than the original, i am considering making my own with the split rings, just like the gambler swim blades. it should not be that hard.

What do mean made them cheaper what did they change?

different skirt

the eye of the jig has an opening

no reflective tape on the blade

dull hook

the trailer is made of a different plastic

they still catch fish, but have heard horror stories that the blade will come off during a fight. i use the original 2 that i got about 5 months ago, only in tournaments. the new ones i got yesterday, will get the field test tomorrow when i prefish for a sunday tourny.

my setup is:

sparkie jig mold

eaker shaker style blade (rounded)

a ton of different types of skirts, still trying to figure out what I like (soft plastic was the latest)

and so far my favorite trailer has been a twister tail grub, kills both the largemouth's and really kills the smallies.

still experimenting
