Lost The Inside Part To My Tip Guide?

Featured Replies

My bass pro shops bionic blade baitcaster lost the plastic black inside part on the first guide and I'm taking it to get it repaired today. Will they probably have the part im missing at the shop or will i have to order it online?

Is it an older model or a new one?

If it is less than a year old they will probably exchange it at BPS. If not I had my St Croix Legend Elite fixed locally for $12.00 by a local rod builder. If it is the first as in tip top most tackle shops can fix it on the spot. around 5 bucks most places.

Ok, wanted to make sure you were talking about a rod and not a reel since it just sad baitcaster.  They will have to swap it out since once the insert to the guide pops out they don't really pop back in. Believe they are Fuji guides and have a ceramic insert which may be set in a plastic ring, but that's not a part you can pop in. It would have to be re-wrapped with a new guide.

Make sur it is a reputable tackle shop doing it. I had an insert pop out on one of my trout rods, and i got a guy to fix it for 8.00, and the next day, it popped off. i super glued it back on, and it is rock solid now, Just sayin'...

Very simple to replace the tip guide, heat it and slide the original guide off, re heat add guide glue and slip the new tip on and align, wipe off ant excess glue and let the glue set about a minute.

All you need is the same type and size top guide.

I don't think he's talking about the tip, think he's refering to the insert in one of the footed guides. But yes, tips are a simple thing to replace.

nevermind, read the post wrong, a tip kit would fix this problem pretty quick.

BPS is pretty good about this kind of thing.  Tips are about 5 bucks and other guides run about 8-$12 depending on the size.

Does it matter if it's not the same guide type/material?

Nope.  Will be no difference in performance and doubt you will notice a weight difference.
