Handle Nut Removal Stx Question?? Help!

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I'm doing some service, (cleaning, lubing etc) on my reels and I can't seem to figure out how to remove the handle nut cover from my Revo STX. It's not a normal nut cover like most reels. It's just a flat oval plate with two little screws attaching it. I removed the two screws, but for the life of me, I can't get that plate off. Anyone have any secrets or ideas? It can't be that difficult.

Thanks,

Small flathead screwdriver inside one of the holes and try and get underneath the plate?

No screw on the back of the handle on this model.

Get a sewing needle inside the screw hole, and pry the cover away from the handle. A bit of a tight fit that needs a gentle lift.

Turn plate counter clockwise until you can get it across the handle, then lift it off

Yeah.  Learned on my first attempt to tear a reel apart that the nut is a left hand thread.  I assume that would be the case for all right hand reels while left hand reels would have right hand threads.  Haven't tried a LH reel to confirm that, but it makes sense.  That way turning the handle would be going in the direction to tighten the nut.
