hand tying jigs

Featured Replies

the segment on a seminar got me interested in this.  i guess i didnt really realize that people hand tied jigs using skirts and such.  the idea of adding in some feathers and hair with the silicone sound intriguing.

is anyone doing this.  i experimented some at home and made some jigs but i dont really think that they are any better looking than straight out of the package jigs.

any tips,

matt

i tied up a couple dozen for a guy at work.. he pours his own lead, so i just dressed them up with some bucktail and crystal flash.. He says they work great..

Use krystal flash (flashabou) for all specie jigs. I also add it to living rubber for my itsy bitsy lite jigs.

A good vice from Cabelas is worth the 20 bucks I paid 3 years ago!

I also make my own.  Most of what I make are living rubber or silicone with the collars.  all most all of my jigs are bass jigs, either finesse or full size.  I highly recommend it.  The colors are limitless.  What ever you can dream up you can make.

I also make my own finesse jigs over the winter.Mainly 1/8 oz.,living rubber, and mainly in black.Your imagination can run wild as far as colors, and or flash appeal. .I dont really like the collars, and tie mine with a fine gauge wire. These Banana head finesse jigs really work well for my applications.....here is a pic of one for an idea.
