Yo Zuri Lures

Featured Replies

Any of you guys ever use Yo Zuri Minnow Jerkbaits or know anything about them?  A guy gave me these lures a few years ago but I have never used them because they look so much different than anything I generally use.  He is a saltwater fisherman too so I wasn't sure if these would even be applicable to central PA rivers that I fish.  Maybe these things would work for musky or walleye too?

I guess I should add that these are the crystal minnow series.

I've never had great luck with Yo Zuri lures.   I own a set of the crystal minnows, but they don't get fished anymore.  I think that they have neat finishes, but they chip easily and the hooks aren't that great.  The action of the lures is ok,  but Pointers and Rogues and Redfins and Rapala lures have better action in my opinion.  I think that 20 or 30 years from now, they will be pretty valuable as collectors items because the finishes are so pretty.

That is the funny thing about collector lures, i.e. if they were really that great of a lure, someone would have used it and lost it back in the day.   I think that there is a reason collector lures languish for decades in the bottom of different tackle boxes, , i.e. they weren't that great of a lure in the first place, but there is something unique about them.  In the case of the Yo Zure lures, they have neat finishes, but the finishes are fragile and easily scraped and marred.

I have a couple of the Yo Zuri jerk baits. I could not tell you which series they are from but they feel like a softer harden plastic.  They do catch fish and have unique twitching action that I have not seen in other baits.
