Northern Va - Noob To Forum

Featured Replies

Hey everyone..

I'm new to the forum and am looking for some fishing buddies in the area. I'm originally from Georgia and came to the area after spending 11 years in Oklahoma City.  Basically I went from country to country to city and it's weird in a way for me because I haven't found too many good places to fish around here and most folks I know are caught up in brunch and being hip.

I'm looking to fish this weekend, but not too sure where to go. I don't have a boat so I do a lot of bank fishing with mixed results.

So, I'm looking to meet some new people and find some new fishing spots.

Thanks,

Ken

Welcome to the area. The DC area is a metropolis but there are plenty of quiet places tucked into the traffic jams and politics.

I'm sure people on the forum will give you a shout. Oh I like brunch almost as much as I like fishing  :laugh5:

I like brunch too, but fishing > brunch... no question.

Welcome! I'm new here too and don't know the area very well. I went to Leesylvania State Park today but didn't have any luck near the pier. I'm also looking for good spots. :respect-059:

Happy to offer up some spots...just PM me whenever and I'll give you some of my go-to's.  Also happy to discuss the '14 football season.  Born and grew up in northern virginia but raised a Dawgs fan.  welcome to the area.  like some of the other guys said, plenty of good water within reach off the city path.

Ken, consider joining a bass club that allows nonboaters.

You will learn the waters to fish; where to launch your future boat; and how to fish for bass in NOVA.

Worth every cent to learn the local waters and what techniques and baits work best.

You can find Virginia bass clubs at the top of the Forum's page under "Links."

Good luck and have fun in the traffic.

Hey I live around the Leesburg area. Anybody know of any spots? I'm new to this area.

Accoquant is a good water, fountainhead is a great place to try but not the pier I never have a good luck at the pier... only for catfish. But the are for the " bike trail " have some good spots that you can walk and have some good bank fishing not sure if the other are is private but I know the bike trail area is part of the park. around here we have a lot of urban lake / ponds that are good for fishing but some of this comunity are for "residents fishing only " and you have to be with someone that live in the comunity.

Good luck and see you around, and remember we have the Potomac river too. ( not good fish to eat but have some good fish to catch )
