Tube Fishing

Featured Replies

Has anyone tried carolina rigging a tube on deep brush piles? Also weightless through bonnets/lilly pads?

Tubes are awesome just about anywhere.  Have used a lot in weed pockets and pads.  I normally use the heavier salted version if I want to go weightles and also put some smelly jelly on them for a slicker surface and longer fish holding on time.  Dry Creek out of Idaho are my favorite brand too.

Here are a few ways I have used tubes FWIW ...

1 - Traditional ... with a tube head.  Drag or hop on the bottom.

2 - Flippin ... Bullet weight, EWG or Flippin' hook.  Hydrilla all day.  :)

3 - Mojo Rig - A finesse carolina rig and a 3.5 finesse tube.  Deadly!

4 - Shakey Head - Keep those tentacles dancing at the top.  Megastrike tubes and their Shake E 2 jig are awesome for this.

5 - Drop shot - 2.5 inchers nose hooked.  Not much success with this technique.

Never tried weightless.

Weightless rigged backwards works great.

Weightless rigged backwards works great.

I swear I posted this in this thread, must have not went through, anyways yeah rigging a tube backwards is pretty cool and works!

I add a packing peanut inside to get a tube to float high behind a Carolina rig and I also was fishing them like you do a fluke before zFlukes were introduced.
