Have any of you bowhunters a recommendation on scent elimination sprays? This is all new territory for me. Thanks for the input.

You know, I never used 'em.  Staying downwind seems to have worked.  I'm thinking about starting up again, so we'll see.  There's a lot of new stuff out there since I last went deer hunting.

Dead down wind, scent killer and scent shield are both good products however you still gotta play the wind. You can do everything but guess what? Ya still gotta breathe lol

My son-in-law also raised another question. He told me that he'd read that using such sprays on Scent Blocker type clothing, clogs the pores in the carbon particles, reducing their effectiveness. Has anyone else heard of this situation?

What I do now is keep my clothes in its tote and get dress before entering the woods. I used scent away but probably will try scent killer this year and I use the wildgames pine spray when I'm in Pine trees.

I actually break off pine boughs when in or near them and rub them on my clothes...works great and its free

Plus you smell exactly like the tree you are sitting it!

Some guys go the opposite direction and smoke their clothes.  Just build a little camp fire and hang your clothes where the smoke blows.  You can spray all the products you want and you'll never be scent free.  Your time will be better spent playing the wind!

I had a decent bull elk get directly down wind from me last year, and never spooked or ran after completely circling where we were sitting (and no, not during the rut!).  I was VERY impressed with how well the scent eliminator worked, as I was very skeptical of it beforehand.  I was using Dead Down Wind when that happened, and have tried others with less success.  Staying downwind is always your best bet, but as most know, it isn't always possible!
