T3 1016 Clicking On Retrieve.

Got my T3 back from TW.  Had them return it so I could get it repaired as they couldn't replace it with a like model.  While out to TW a fellow TT member PMed me what he did to his reel to get the cast control to function.  I did what he suggested.  Took the plastic part out that is under the cast control knob, then put it back in.  The cast control now works.  Took it out for the 2nd time a couple days ago.  It was clicking on the retrieve.  Not throughout the whole retrieve, tho.  It quit making the noise after about 15 minutes of casting.  I was wondering what caused the clicking, and if it is something I should be worried about.  Don't want to cause any damage to the reel.  Thanks.  I did remove the handle in order to get to that piece of plastic.

BTW, I assume they sent me the original reel back.  It was an overrunning/backlashing machine on every cast when I first got it.  Now I can't backlash or overrun it even with zero brakes on, set on Longcast and with very loose spool tension.  This is with a 1/2 oz. spinnerbait.......which aren't particularly noted for their great aerodynamics.  :teeth:

My 3 other 1016 variants with the same settings fluff at the very least on every cast.  I hesitate to let anyone touch this reel since it casts so great now.

I would bet your bearing collar is goofed up or broke. Its part 58 and goes inside the bearing below the cast control knob. Had it happen to one of mine when i wasn't careful pushing it out. Its a small plastic collar they will ship you for free.

If the click went away after 15 minutes maybe something worked itself Valk together. My Mx fid that too, now it's fine. I can cast on long cast, mag dial at 1. Never tried zero

I had to try mine at the lowest settings when I first got them.  Like I said, they all fluffed but didn't overrun or backlash as long as I was careful.  I felt Maxbrake distance was nearly the same with less chance of overruns.  Don't know what it is with this last reel, but I am not getting any line lifting on the spool and casting distance is excellent.  It is puzzling that it overran so bad at first.  Even though the spool is set very loose now it is unbelievable how well it behaves.  I wish all my reels handled as well.
