Extra Fast Action Rods

Featured Replies

I'm I the only one not fond of extra fast tips? Just doesn't feel right to me. Fast just seems just right to me other than something for treble hooks.

I like them for frog fishing, jig fishing, and a few other odds and ends.   They are a tool, and in my fishing they have a use.

To answer your question, yes. ;)

Love XF tips! But I also like my F rods that happen to be more like XF than F except for one or two of them.

I have an extra fast action setting over there in a corner.

It's an old Fenwick graphite rod of Dad's.  It may have been his first graphite rod, in fact.

Someplace along the line the tip got broken off.  I replaced the tip, but lost everything up to the second-to-last line guide in the process.

I'm pretty sure it's extra-fast now :laugh5:

Not a fan of XF on casting rods, something just didn't feel right to me when casting them. Just an observation, but it seems more and more rods (at least the brands that I am interested in), are going XF, especially if they are touted as rods for bottom contact type of baits. Now for spinning rods, I like XF just as much as F, depending on what type of fishing I am doing.

x-fast action marries nicely with light - med. light power...

A Medium XF spinning rod with light braid is my favorite set up for senkos, ikas, and other weightless plastics.

XF is my favorite!

Weightless plastics, jigs, frogs... Just not the same if it isn't XF IMO.
