Type r comes in neither of those speeds.

First off, I own 2 regular Tatulas and am a former owner of the Gen 3 STX, S and SX. The STX is a nice reel, but for the money and the deals to be had on the Tatula/Tatula Type R you just can't go wrong with the Daiwa. I had a few problems with the brake tabs on the STX turning themselves on during a cast, and if you try google, you'll see I'm not alone on that. My Revo S had the same issue as well. Maybe Abu fixed the problem in the latest runs, but I honestly don't think the STX is the better reel at all. The Tatula is much smoother, casts farther, and IMO is just built better. The regular Tatula I think as a 5.x gear ratio though the Type R does not. Type R is 6.3 and 8.1 IIRC. Still, the regular Tatula is better than the STX.

I know that if I were to get a Type-R I would get the 6.3 and 8.0.

I guess I am doing something right, the only diawa I own are the sealine sl-sh models.

My ABU's have never let me down....
