Ive recently uncovered my brothers old shimano tekota from the garage, back when we used to fish salt water a lot. A lot of people online say they use it as a freshwater swimbait reel. What do you guys think?

You can use it, if you don't mind casting conventional reel.

Shimano built that reel as a trolling reel. Any shimano reel that starts with the letter T in the name was built as a trolling reel. All the casting reels names

start with the letter C.

I know YOU know, but many probably do not, so I posted, clarifying meaningless, to most, semantics.

And OP, make sure you turn off the clicker before trying to cast it.
