Best Reel Around 200 For Froggin And Flippin

Featured Replies

As the topic states. What do you think?

New lews super duty 8.0:1. Can be had for about 160 if you look around. Heavy drag, 95mm power handle, high capacity for lots of big line...all you need for heavy applications

X2. That new 8.0:1 looks great for flipping!

Another excellent choice would be the daiwa tatula type r. My brother has the 6.3:1. I imagine the 8.1:1 would b great for flipping and frogging..

Any high speed reel (6.5-8.1) will do just fine.

I don't have a particular favorite make and model tho.

But I do like a mag brake only design.

My frogging and flipping reels are 7.1:1 Curado I's with 102mm Hawgtech's. Talk about some serious cranking power. Love those combo's. BTW talk to Ron over at Valley sports one of BR sponsors. You will be surprised how much $$ he can save you on nice reels. Good luck choosing a reel.

Curado I or Chronarch E.

I use a zillion for frogging but if I were in the market for a new one I would get a tatula.

Abu Garcia Revo STX 2nd Gen. Absolute TANK of a reel, and you can pick up a mint example for well under your top end range.

My previous frogging reel was this exact same reel. Good reel. It caught me loads of bass. I gifted it to a friend of mine and he tricked it out a little. New handle and knobs. Really looks nice. My only regret about this reel was not getting it in a 7.1:1 ratio.

Got a lightly used Smoke 150 for $100.00 off another forum which is now my frog reel casts a mile, even into the wind. Been using a Curado 200E7 for flipping for years and don't see a need to change. Kind of 2 different animals though. Casting a frog vs. flipping. Not sure I would choose same reel for both.
