Live Target Mouse

Featured Replies

I fished the live target mouse today, several followers but no takers. I like the action you can pop it, skip it or it walks very easy. I did have a problem with it filling with water each cast. Has anyone tried to seal it better? I would like to seal around the hooks and see if it helps, not sure if that would hurt the action. Maybe it is just one of those things that you have to squeeze out the water each cast? Please let me know if you had success sealing up the mouse. Thanx.

Wipe some Megastrike around the weep hole.  You don't want it totally sealed.

I have never fished one, but I was on a boat with someone working it super fast and it was getting killed, and we didnt have any other frogs or mice in that size or style and nothing else would work as well. I always ignored the mice topwater lures, figured a white frog is all I need, but it definately has it's time and I personally think it is the size and way it walks that makes it such a good lure. I have downsized alot of my frogs since and actually prefer the smaller sizes now instead of the bigger 5.5" versions except for heavy slop.

I know for certain that the mouse was not modified, and he fishes all lures as they come. It did take on some water at times but it also was destroyed after half dozen fish.

i have one and it fills with water and gets stuck in the lilly pads a lot.  i think the weight is a lil to heavy.

I had one that sank pretty quickly. I used some clear aquarium sealant and put over the hole where the hooks exit. It works a lot better now.

The general shape and single central tail lends itself to a nice whippy walk and they get slammed for sure.

They hook up because they're nice and soft but they also get torn up for the same reason. Still worth it though, they're not that expensive and some mend-it goes a long way.

I have one, it does fill with water quickly. It walks nice, but there aren't really any mice where I fish. Maybe if it was like a chipmunk or ground squirrel it would get hit.

I haven't used the Livetarget but I have used the Moss Mouse, and it seems to do a great job.

I have 2 of the live target mice and they work really well. Sometimes when I am not getting bit on the frog and I throw the mouse I will get strikes.aybe it because they are seeing something different who knows. But I don't have problems with it filling up with water. It's a great walking bait, and a lot of my catches come along the bank line or ontop of grass
