So I'm fishing with a coangler this weekend, and I think we need to fish differently until we catch on to something. 

 

This brings me to my question about dissecting the water column. Would you say that a jig, spinnerbait, swimjig and topwater covers most of it? 

 

I should probably mention that we are fishing relatively shallow, deepest would probably be off points/ledges. 

I wouldn´t say it covers "most" of it, those baits cover it all.

Looks like you've got all depths covered.  Fishing a jig while the coangler is fishing a cranking type bait (spinner bait, crank bait, swim bait) can be a bit annoying since you'd most likely be dragging the jig or fishing it slowly.  It's absolutely doable, but it will take some practice!

When I fish a swim jig, I tend to pump it through the water, higher in the column, as compared to dragging a jig along the bottom.

Agree with the others.  This should cover everything.  Try to stay away from fishing to vastly different baits in terms of speed of retrieve.  As mentioned a slow Jig and fast crankbait are hard to do side by side.  Your best bet would be to cover the area with the other 3 and if you are sure there are fish there slow down with a few slow bottom dwelling baits (jig, t-rigged craw, punch rig etc.) as the day progresses.

Swimjig or a chatterbait would be good baits to be thrown anywhere a spinnerbait is thrown.  Depending on cover, I'd say a lipless crank or squarebill would be some other good options.
