6'6" Heavy Ugly Stik Gx2 Casting Rod.

Featured Replies

I just got one of the brand new for $15, figured it was worth it.

What should I use it for?  Would it be good for frogging or using jigs in weedy areas?

It seems very heavy duty, claims 20-50lb line and lures .5 to 1.5 oz

Moving baits maybe due to the action those rods have. Wrong action fir bottom contact baits.

You won't want that for jigs or frogs, I think it would be better as a reaction bait rod as they have a parabolic action. You may be able to throw jig with braided line but even with that it won't be very sensitive.

Those rods make a decent tomato stake if you cut off the handle.

I'd use it for catfish and that's about it, and it wouldn't be very ideal for that even. A rod that short and heavy is going to be very tiring to fish for bass very long.
