Anyone  fished the Salt River access US 61 (Indian Camp Access) ?

Looks good on Google Earth, thinking maybe a good place to fish from the kayak for small mouth.

Don't know until you try buddy.

It's definitely worth a try. I've only fished the Salt a couple times and it was the south fork down in Audrain and Monroe counties. Didn't have much luck myself on those two trips. But I know people who have caught all kinds of fish there, including smallmouth. I've seen people pulling out stringers full of crappie. And a guy who used to live next door to me who was from the area you're talking about spoke highly of the fishing on the Salt up there. So I say go for it!

I know this is an old post but I just saw it. Yes I   fish it often. A few years back it was hot for smallmouths. The problem is it is below Mark Twain lake which is a flood control reservoir. Several years of extreme flooding has severely  hurt the fishery. The corp raises the water unpredictably. If the water is high     you will not be able to fish at all. If the water is low , paddle upstream to fish. If you go down stream and they raise the water you will not make it back to the ramp .Absolutely take a life jacket. The PFD is not needed when the water is low but its a dangerous river when they raise it .

Texas rigged crawfish such as Guido bugs are good baits. Just go fishing , ripples , deep holes , logs ...

There are other areas of the Salt to fish. Like missourifishin says, you can fish the upper reaches of salt river which are above the Mark Twain lake. Another good spot is the area between the Clarence Cannon dam and the rereg dam. There are two boat ramps there and is a decent largemouth fishiery.

That's true. I have another friend who talks a lot about how good the fishing near the rereg d**n is. I need to go with him some time.

The water between the two dams is narrow like a river but usually with  little or no  current like a lake. I think its ten to twelve miles long. If you can get there in the autumn when the leaves change , its stunning.
