Diamond Valley Lake

Featured Replies

During my time out in Southern California I fished at Diamond Valley  Lake. Like most lakes in the area it was crazy to see how low the water level was. I was throwing a popper along a shaded point and a smallmouth bass jumped out of the water and nailed it. It was 3lbs plus which is big for that lake I was told. We moved to a new spot near the dam and was dropshotting and caught a couple smaller bass but had a big one break me off under the boat. Would have been the biggest of the day. It was nice to get out on some new water.

The lower section of the boat ramp was added on due to the low water levels I was told.

Nice....but so strange to see no tree's.

I can't wait until I go back to Diamond Valley. I had a blast hooking up 2-3lbs spotted bass from shore back in April 2014. The best part of that day was hooking up a 7lb catfish on a senko.

I know Paris had spots at one time, wasn't aware there were spots in DVL.  I know they have some SM, which the one you caught is a nice one.  Yes it is amazing how low all the lakes are, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that this winter we will end up with a lot of rain.....almost every time after a strong El Nino S. Cal gets hammered with lots of rain.  I take pictures of the lakes when they are low like they are now, gives you a great reference when the lakes rise to what's below you.

Not aware of spots in DVL?

Perris was the record Spotted bass lake in the late 80's, they disappeared late 90's. The spotted bass record is currently at New Melones, the Perris spot was displaced by Pine Flat.
