Epoxy is a little sticky

Featured Replies

I put epoxy on 3 of my spinnerbaits. 2 turned out perfect and one turned out a little bit sticky. Is their any way i can fix it. Like if i put it in the oven will the stickyness go away.

Dip it in thinner and start all over and even them I'm not too sure.  Sticky epoxy is usually caused by a bad mix of the two components.  Once it's sticky it will always be that way.  Can't recoat or anything.

wipe the bait down with rubbing alcohol and re-coat with epoxy, works everytime.

make sure you get a good mix on this batch.

With an epoxy resin-hardener mix, you can re-coat over the existing clearcoat that has a tacky feel.

jasone, I've used that method to cover sticky spots on at least 50 cranks baits, it works every single time.

Yeah, you and I said about the same thing.  I'm interested in the other methods though.  I always though removal and reapplication was the only way.  Any other method would save a ton of time.
