Diawa Lexa 100?

Featured Replies

I was wondering how this reel preformed? I can get one of tw for $100. would this be a good choice as A jig and worm reel?.....

I really liked the lexas. They have been overshadowed by the Tatula as of late but I much prefer the palming of the lexa.

I was very skeptical of the lexa. Well I ended up owning 3 of them. I gave them a beating too. I have nothing bad to say about them. You can also look at the new Exceler. It's basically a lexa but has rivited knobs. I had 2 of those also and didn't notice a difference between the lexa.

Wait for the black Friday sales on TW and you should be able to get it for 20% off on your order.

The Tatula is better and can be had for $100 on walmart.com, though I agree the Lexa palms better. Another option might be cabelas prodigy which is on sale right now for $80 and I believe is more or less the same as a Lexa.

I am a big fan of both the Lexa's and Exceler's. I replaced ALL of my casting reels with them, including several higher cost reels such as curado 51e's,and revo stx's.

How does the new Prodigy handle light weights?  Say around 1/4 and 5/16 oz.

I have one Lexa 100, and it was my favorite baitcaster until I bought a Shimano Chronarch 50e.

That said, it is a fine reel. I need to get mine serviced as the anti-reverse pawl got mangled due to a problem that may be limited to a small number of Lexas. The reel, during a cast, would often engage the spool bringing it to an abrupt halt. I had to learn to hold my thumb on the thumb bar to keep it from engaging. It happened one too many times, though.

I took it apart and bent the pawl back into shape, but it still needs replacing. I can still use it, though.

I've read of a few others having this problem, but not sure it is wide-spread in the reels. I wouldn't let my experience scare you from a fine reel otherwise.
