Need help finding a hook for my molds.

Featured Replies

I just bought the DO-IT SUB-3-AY WEEDLESS STAND UP JIG MOLD and it says it takes a Eagle claw 1623 hook.  Only problem is I don't want Eagle claw.  Anyway, I called and spoke with the guy at Do it, and he said that he doens't know anyone else that makes a hook to match this mold.  He said that it is a 28 degree flat eye hook, wich I know will vary sligtly between brands, but does anyone know where I can find a better hook to fit this mold?  I know the first fish I lose I am gonna cuss them hooks.

Thanks for any help

Have you thought about grinding the mold to the shape of the hook you want or to alter it some way like that.

Mustad maks several 28 degree hooks but they are not flat eye. A do-it mold can be modified to accept the regular eye hooks with a dremel. Use the bit that looks like a bullet and slowly press down at the mold eyelet until it is concave. I did this with my mold and it works just fine.

I figured I would have to use a dremel tool, but I thought I would post here first before I go pokin on my mold.  I will probably have to do a lot of experimenting with it before I get it right.

Thanks

I have taken the mustad light wire flat eye hooks and bent them to fit the stand up mold, if you bend them to much they will break.
