I wanted to see what people who have both reels think. I know one is dual braking and the other just magnetic and some people are partial to one or the other in general for instance dual braking better for wind but I want to know actual comparisons of using both. I was thinking about buying one more Tourney MG for $60 or getting the Tourney Speed Spool for $90 after rebate but if just having the mag braking on the MG works as well with no noticeable difference on casting distance etc, I would rather save the $30 and stick with that.

Braking is a means to help control the spool during casting to prevent over runs. Centrifugal braking has more effect on the spool and the beginning of the cast and magnetic has more effect at the end of a cast. Dual braking offers the ability to fine tune your reel so that you can make successful casts repeatedly. One style of braking is not going to always out perform the other, there are too many variables, but dual braking will give you more options.

I've been a little bit curious about this myself, because that deal on the Tourney MG is tempting me.

I have had the Tournament for about 3 yrs now, and the TT pro for over year. i know you mentioned the speedspool however the TTPro has dual brakes also. I found the MG casts extremely well. I have thrown braid and currently i am throwing 12lb Yozuri off this reel now. The only times i think you will run into trouble will be if you throw really light baits. By trouble, I mean some possible backlashes and distance will be affected. Really light baits for me means trickworms and finesse worms either weightless or with 1/32 weights. Throwing some plastics with a little thickness to them for example 4" stickworms, you will not have a problem. The MG is a great reel, I find mine becoming smoother the more I fish with it. I have never fished the MG but I have been very pleasantly surprised at how smooth, quiet and stout the plain old SS is. Didn't expect it to be anywhere near as good as it is.
