Jig Skirt

Featured Replies

I want start makeing my own jig skirts. What are some basic colors should I get? Or Should i start with a pre made kit?

Basic colors are blk/blue, black, brown, grn pumpkin and brn org.  Then any other colors you like. It's better to create your own this way you can make what you want and customize it to the jig color and the colors you like. For skirt color, check out fishingskirts.com. They have the biggest selection, there are other places as well.

If you like living rubber mixed in your jigs, go to Living Rubber's website and check out there reptile print.  I can't wait till mine get here to start creating my own.

Pumpkin, green pumpkin, black, blue, whiskey. These colors are good to make some good basic skirts.

fishingskirts.com is a good spot if you want unpainted jigheads. The paint chips real easy off the painted ones you buy there, but it's up to you.  Siebert outdoors is of course a good spot.

As Will Wetline has already mentioned, Bio-Silk is a great alternative to living rubber. I have been using it since it came out and I'll continue to use it. It acts and feels like living rubber but it doesn't melt or clump up like rubber because it is silicone. The only problem is the material is exclusive to Lure Parts Online but I normally order other stuff there so it isn't a big deal. A simple way for you to start is by picking base colors and accent colors, base colors will be Black, brown, watermelon, green pumpkin, and pumpkin, while accent ciolors will be natures edge colors, living image colors, glitter scale colors or basically any color that has a pattern on it like barb wire or tiger tracs. Just put together what ever looks good to you and think will catch fish, good luck.
