Fluoro Tied To Fluoro?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

After many reties or loosing fluoro line to snags, I was wondering if it's feasible to do a fluoro to fluoro line tie? If it was mono I would just throw away left over line but fluoro is not a cheap line to respool

Any advise would be helpful

So you are wanting to use the fluoro that's left on the spool as a backing for the new line? If you are sure that you won't be getting down to the connection knot, you can use a piece of tape around the left over fluoro and just tie an arbor knot and fill up the spool.

Thanks, I think I will try that when the spool goes down more. Next time I will put some mono backing

Uni knot.

Take off the extra fluoro and back your spool w/mono. I'm not a fan of this, but if you want to save money, that is the way to do it.

Not quite sure I fully grasp what you want to do, but the Surgeon knot is great for mono to mono, or fluoro to mono, or any other combination of those type of lines. However, when you start getting into braid & leaders, then the Alberto knot rules - in my opinion.

This, except I like the blood knot.

Seguar red label is like 13 bucks at Walmart. You could easily spool up 2 reels with it. If I were you I'd spend about 15 bucks for power pro braid and them use red label as a leader. The braid will last you a good while and that spool of red label as a leader will go a lot further.
