I am looking for a set-up for casting tubes, senkos and flukes. I know the rod is just as important as the reel. I thinking about a curado or a lews TP. Any input would appreciated, Thanks

Go by the lure weight rating on the rod.  If you want to cast really light weights on a baitcaster, any of the 50 size shimanos are good. It helps if you state the range of weights you would like to throw though. 

I have a super tuned Lews TP, worked well even before the supertune for 5 in. senkos. Lots of guys would recommend 50 sized Shimanos if you're around this weight range.

I threw 1/8 oz for a couple years on the Curado E series, so I assume the Curado I is no different.  I like a 7' M fast action rod for that application as well. 

Check which reel is lighter... It may not be completely indicative of which would be better, but a lighter spool will generally excel at throwing light lures and a heavier spool will be better for heavier lures.

Take your pick of reel to throw light weight lures. Ch50E, Curado, Lews TT pro, Tournament MG. Any of these will throw the baits you want quite easily. As far as rod, Dobyns Savvy 703 will do great on those light applications.

I'd get a phenix m1 m and shimano 50 chronarch

I throw weightless flukes with a Core 50 and a Cumara m/f

Unless you want to really open your wallet, the 50/51E Shimanos are about as good as you'll get for finesse baitcasting. A rod that loads properly is still the biggest piece of the puzzle though.  

I love Shimano and have the Ci4+'s for use, but for a medium light fast action baitcaster I have the new abu Garcia revo SX and that thing casts a country mile with Seaguar tatsu.

I have 2 Curado 51Es that Mike went through for me.  One supertuned and upgraded, the other left stock.  Both will bomb a 3/16 oz. spinnerbait, but I don't recall using less with these reels.  My understanding is that pretty much any of today's reels will handle 1/4 oz. so you need to make sure the reel you pick can handle 1/8 oz.  I have no idea how experienced you are with a baitcaster, but 1/8 oz. requires a fair amount of skill, IMHO.  Maybe reels designed for finesse such as the Pixy will handle 1/8 oz. as well as other reels handle 1/4 oz.  No idea because they are out of my price range.

 

I have one rod rated down to 1/16 oz.  No doubt in my mind that the rod can handle 1/8 oz. just fine.  However, the bozo on the handle end can't.  Just pointing out that the right rod and reel may not be a walk in the park for you casting 1/8 oz. unless you also have the skill.

Valley is right. The rod tosses the lure. Not the reel or line.

 

All the rest of the stuff shortens the casting distance.

 

 

50 years ago I stripped a 9 weight flyrod & used large guides & the Mitchell small saltwater reel with light lines.

Braid & mono.  mono won. Loved the distances casting a Mepps spinner with the rubber minnow. 

I use a Black *** 7'3"M action and a BPS Carbonlite.  I know they make those in left handed.  Unfortunately though, you will have to wait for the left handed 13 Concepts, but when they do become available I'm sure they will be quite popular.

 

No experience with the new models, but I use 2 of the older gold Carbonlites on rods for light lures.  Both will bomb a 3/16 oz. Shad Rap nearly as far as I can toss a 1/2 oz. spinnerbait on most MH rods.
