Blade Bait And Hook Size

Featured Replies

I have the mold to make vibrating lure. I have the insert to make a 1/2 and 3/4. What size hooks do I need?

I would like to buy a bunch of hooks so I need a hook that is budget friendly.

Thanks

You are talking about a blade bait like a Silver Buddy and not a chatterbait right? Depends on the size of the blade. I'd use the largest you can but small enough that they won't hook each other.

You can use a size either a size 4 or a size 2 if you want but I like to use the size 2 on the front and the size 4 on the back, that has always worked well for me.

i like 4/0 on my baits and they fit in the mold real easy if we are talking about bladded jigs or chatter baits. but once u decide on what size hooks you need to think about brand i like the new eagle claws that came out last year. they are sick nasty sharp for the money or you can get some mustad ultra points are fine or depending on the mold you can go crazy and get trokar but that wasnt for me. oh and owners too but for my baits i like they price point of the eagle claws hope that gives you some ideas to think about. cus at the end of they day your going to be the one using them. i would just recommend not going cheap and not going crazy!

Should have clarified. Silver buddy style blade bait.

What is a good hook in the mustad brand?I plan on ordering 100 of them from Captain hooks to use on my vertical jigging spoons as well.
