Fenwick Elite Tech Bass Casting Rod

Featured Replies

I was thinking about treating myself with buying a new bass rod. I was thinking about the fenwick elite tech casting and was wondering about this rod because I've heard good things but never held or used one. Could I also put a spinning reel on it if I wanted too??

Casting rods with a trigger are not meant to have spinning reels on them. I imagine you could put a spinning reel on a casting rod but you'll either be fishing with the rod upside down with the trigger sticking up or the reel upside down and reeling backwards. Please don't do that, if you have a spinning rod get an Elite Tech spinning rod, no need to buy a casting rod when they make a spinning rod in the same series.

^^^^^ what he said.

I can attest to the quality of Fenwick elitetech spinning rods, I have a 6'9 M-XF that is great for presenting light baits. I use it for shakeyheads, wacky rigs and light t-rigs

I have one of the older Elite Tech Small Mouth rods and it is not to bad.  I would compare it to the St. Croix Avid but it casts better.  In the sensitivity category, it maybe just a fuzz less than the Avid but only by a small amount.  It is a nice all around rod though.

One other thing is that it balances well with heavier reels.

What he said x 10.

I have the same M-XF ET Smallmouth rod, awesome rod (Robert Riley).  it is a decent all around spinning rod.

I also concur that the previous Gen rod is a great value buy because it is on with the Avid in performance for me at least and cheaper.
