Suffix Promix

Featured Replies

Im getting away from the big game line on my swimbait stick and was looking into copolys, I found this stuff at Gander for 5 bucks n some change for 300yds. I figured Id ask opinions on it before I spooled up.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I should add Im mostly focused on the manageability and stretch of the line.

Wow that's a deal!!!

Im pretty sure that's the regular price... For that amount I couldn't pass it up but I dunno if its any good or not. If it turns out be be cheapo line then I have some other uses for it other than my swimbait setup.

Never used it. Suffix mono is OK in my opinion. Nothing worse, nothing better. Just OK

LIkewise Ive used their elite and its decent for the $, Oh well Ill spool the stuff up and give it a whirl. I cant stand the stretch of big game for this application.

You'll be hard pressed to find a copoly that stretches less than Big Game. It's one of the lowest stretch non-braided lines out there.

Yeah, I'd either stick with Big Game or try some CXX. I have a hard time trusting $30+ baits to just any line.

I could be wrong/mis-informed, but I thought one of the selling points/advantages of co-poly was less stretch compared to nylon mono?

Well I know I dont like the big game, Ill give the cxx a shot. That was gonne be my purchase but they didnt have the size I was looking for and I saw the promix and decided to give it a shot. Like I said worst outcome Ill spool my inshore reel up with it.

It might be a "selling point," but that doesn't make it true in all cases. Kind of like how fluorocarbon has "no stretch." There are copolymer lines that are more abrasion resistant and stretch less, but there are many monofilament lines that stretch less and are more abrasion resistant than several of the copolymers on the market. CXX does have slightly less stretch than big game, but it's also a little stiffer.

The promix is pretty good stuff.  I really like it, very subtle and casts really well.  Seems to hold up well, but if you're looking for abrasion resistance the tritanium plus is the ticket.

Yea I use the tritanium for the surf and bridge fishing. Great stuff. I was more interested in a low stretch and manageable line. I'll spool the promix up and see, I still have a 1/4 spool of big game on standby if it doesn't work out. I'll report back what I think of the promix.

Don't forget, CXX may be rated at 15lb. but the breaking point is 20+. My favorite cranking line.
