I am in the market for a new finesse rod for dropshotting and wacky rigging. I own a couple duckett ghost casting rods and i was wondering if i should get a spinning ghost or should i take my $100 elsewhere for a better rod for the money.

I'm also currently in the market for a mid-range dropshot/shakeyhead rod. I've spent a lot of time looking at Fenwick rods as they make some very nice lighter rods that originate from walleye designs for bottom fishing. Particularly the elite tech bass series.  Shimano also makes some nice rods that fit the descripton, most are just significantly more expensive that the price you quoted. Fished with a state team pro who fished only Shimano Cumara rods on his drop shot set ups and they out preformed any other rod I've fished with.

For $100 your hard to beat the Abu Garcia Veritas 6'9" ML.  Otherwise, I'd save my money and get a St. Croix Legend Tournament 6'10" ML for $260.  For something that requires sensitivity (jigs, worms, ect) I'm more willing to spend extra.  But like I said, I used a Veritas and its a good rod for the money that I still use on a regular basis.

I've been using a St.Croix mojo bass ML/XF rod I got for Christmas and I'm loving it for dropshotting and other finesse techniques!

St Croix mojo 6'8"MXF. I hade same Legend Tournament. It was perfect rod for wacky 5" and 6" Senko and good for drop shot.

You could check out BPS during their spring sale, they will have the dark carbonlite rods for clearance and the new white ones starting at 89. Besides my crankin stick I own, the only BPS rods I would ever buy is carbonlite, amazing rods, 6'8" MXF would be perfect for these applications.

I was actually up at bass pro last night for the early sale and i checked those out and they were pretty sweet. i have a bunch of rods i dont use anymore which i am thinking of trading in to put into a carbonlite. Its a deal i dont think i could pass on.

Cant speak for the new white ones but the older versions are just amazing, I have a few of them. I cant explain enough how great those rods are. IMHO I think they should have kept that line and keep it running for a while because it was already ahead of the game when they first came out.

There is a St. Croix Legend Tournament 6'10" ML/XF for sale in the Fishing Flea Market right now.  Advertised $160 TYD I believe.  Great deal!!!!

Fenwick makes a very sensitive line of rods just above your price range (Elite tech walleye/bass). Great for drop shots.

 

My dropshot rod is a Fenwick 6'9" HMG ML/F. I love it.

Agree. I've got three black Carbonlites, 1 spinning, 2 casting.

 

Love them. So light and plenty of sensitivity. I use all of mine 

for a variety of techniques, but mostly wacky, mojo, cranks, 

etc.

 

I'd love to add one more black to my repertoire. The white models

are indeed nice, and very light, comparable to the black as I was 

able to compare a second time last night. But I just like the black

better (color-wise). But I'm certain the white will be awesome if I 

end up having to swap one of my blacks out during the first year

warranty.

Next KVD : Is your Veritas 6'9" ML a original or 2.0 ? ... This rod is on my short list to use for drop shot - is the tip limber and does the bend extend more down towards the middle of the rod like better drop shot rods respond ? Is the rod sensitive enough to detect light strikes ?

Check out the St Croix Rage in either 6'8" M/XF or 6'10" M/XF. I've got the 6'10" as an extra shakyhead and wacky rig rod and I love it. Some people have been finding them on sale at Dick's lately but you could get one for a discount at basspro during the rod trade in.
