"Circuit Board"

Featured Replies

Why does everyone call it circuit board? Aren't you just using G-10 or FR-4? Sure, it sounds cool because it can be used to make circuit boards, but it's not a circut board until it has all the components of a circuit board. You guys wouldn't carve a bait out of Maple and say, "this bait is made of Louisville Slugger." Not trying to knock anyone but its been bugging me for a couple of years now and I had to get it off my chest. :D

Thanks

my guess is because just about everybody knows what a circuit board is and just about nobody knows what G-10/FR-4 is.

but its always good to rant

I believe it is just a generic name like Kleenex for tissues? I still think it could be circuit board though but it isn't a circuit board.

With all the nano surface mouny technology how many semiconductors do you think we could get on one?

Allen

The original lips made out of that material where made in Tenn by guys working at a plant that made circut boards.  Theys used the scraps, it has turned into a common name for the stuff.   But if it really bothers you I can call g-10 or g-11, that's what I use. ;D
