Cleaning Curados E7 Question...

Featured Replies

I'm about to start doing my yearly maintenance on my curados (201e7).  I use a youtube video series from a SHIMANO reel maintenance worker.  It's a 3 part, 30 minute video that takes you through cleaning and maintaining a curado D, I believe.  It's been helpful.  However, after I clean and reassemble, I hear a clicking noise when rotating the handle (reeling line in).  I think this part is the culprit:

By the way, that's a citica only because I don't have pictures of the curado disassembled.   Has anyone else had this problem?  What can I do to fix the clicking noise?  Thanks.

Adjust the flexible "ears" on the AR dog and grease the gap. Make sure tabs grasp the ratchet when installed. That'll be $22 please. JK  Let me know if you have any other questions. FWIW these videos are better than  nothing, but a far cry from a complete frame-off deep cleaning.

The anti-reverse pawl should be slid onto the gear. I usually put the two pieces together before putting them back into the reel. Add a little grease where the two slide against each other and make sure it is not loose.

This image is from a different shimano, but the principle is still the same:

Pinch the teeth closer together like this \ / not too tight and not too loose. Too tight and the reel will feel sluggish, too lose and you get that clicking noise as it rolls over each bump.

Awesome.  Thanks so much.  If I wasn't so strapped for cash, I would definitely send my reels to DVT.  Thanks again.

Understood, I'm glad to help. Whenever these vids pop up though I feel compelled to clarify what you get for your money when you do send reels in.
