Continued warm weather here in southern California has warmed the water surface temps in my lake up to the upper 60's.  My expectation of more active fish was correct with a good day of fishing yesterday, however all the fish caught were still caught on slower moving baits (Roboworms at cove entrances for the staging bass and wacky rigged senko's for those who have moved up shallow under or near docks).  Didn't get a single bite on topwaters, crankbaits or other moving baits...

 

Check that, I did have a hookup while using a lipless crankbait, as the picture below shows.  Apparently the mollusks were on a faster moving bait pattern.

 

That's constantly happening on our lakes with zebra mussels. Sometimes you get the whole rock too and think you have a fish for a few seconds. 

That's pretty cool. The closest I've come to that is lassoing a small rock while drifting for Salmon. 

Fascinating! Never seen that happen before.

That happens to me all the time on my home lake, lake cachuma. We have a really bad quagga mussel problem here in SoCal

I don't have any pics of mussels on hooks but as you can see in this picture, there's plenty

Hate when that happens! We snag them all the time fishing deep shell beds. I can only imagine what it does to a hook point!
