South County Park, Boca Raton Fl

Featured Replies

Anyone around the Palm Beach area - Boca Raton fish the new big lake out in West boca Raton called "South County Region Park"? Based on its surroundings, looks like there going to add to the current size lake, or make another one.

However, The lake has a rocky bottom with a drop off on the sides and High weeds that grow tall to the surface along the shoreline, the bass are very light in color due to little vegetation. Its got a blue-Green tint color, and very decent visability. It could be salt water, but its fresh. The Rocks add filtration to the water, helping its clarity what it seems. I could see 7 feet down today at least. KVD cranks work well. I have used Black/and Blue color jigs before and caught a few good ones. Anyone fish here yet? If you fished here, what works for you? Even though it was around 70degrees today, I still caught several 1-3lbs bass today. Which is good despite the cold here last 2 days.

Theres a boat ramp as well. people jet ski, and all kinds of stuff out here.

That lake isn't that new, I fished it years ago.  It had been greatly enlarged since about 2004.

Check it out with Google Earth using the historical feature.

I fish it I my canoe and do very well there. Spinnerbait, wake baits, flukes and senkos seem to do pretty well year round.
