im looking for software that is pc campatible so i can do my lake home work from home on my computer like zoom in and find things that i want to fish,. i have humming bird and going to get some new garmin fish finders for my boat but like i said i want to do the same from home on my pc, only other way i know of is paper maps which would be nice but hard to get my hands on! help please

Google earth is now getting into bathymetry mapping of lakes and rivers so you might check into that.

Here in Florida I get a lot the official government bathymetric maps which are publicly available. You just gotta do your homework in searching them out as to who has what in your area. Here in Florida we have a lake watch program which a ton of them, and through state universities you can find them, water quality agencies, county and local governments often have them in storm and water run-off depts.

In the past I've run Garmin, Humminbird and Navionics, but am currently running a Humminbird unit.

Navionics SD cards can be viewed on your PC monitor via "NavPlanner2", but Lakemaster chips cannot.

I got around the Lakemaster dilemma with an AC/DC converter that allows me to do my offsite work

on my Hummingbird unit, right alongside my computer.

 

Although Lakemaster bathymetry rules in the north, they're new to the southeast and their cartography

is blatantly inaccurate (for the most accurate cartography I use Onix AutoChart Live, but it's time-consuming).

With regard to pre-programmed cartography, I'm running Navionics Plus on my Hummingbird Onix,

which allows me to pinpoint waypoints at home, either on my computer or my Humminbird device.

I use a AC/DC power source and extra unit power cords.

 

I have 4 units on/near my desk now.

 

The TV on the wall is connected to the unit on the right via a Humminbird Video cable.

Just wanted to add to Rolo's reply and help out kanasbassfisher08 a little.

The Navionics Nav Planner 2 software was originally made by our team and is now discontinued and no longer supported.
They are a wide varitey of software available on the market depending on what you're looking to do. Only a few of them
will actually work with Navionics charts.

If you're looking for simple planning tools and don't really wish to use the software for navigation with your equipment while on the water,
then go for something simpler like a planning software. We currently have two on our store. The Raymarine Voyage Planner and the
Insight Planner for Navico Products. Note the software are neutral so it doesn't matter what chart plotter or equipment you get. Long as they
support the widely used GPX format you're good to go.

Other than that we also have the Fugawi Marine 5 software which can be used for planning and navigation out on the water on the water.

As always I recommend people to do a lot of research and get the product that works best for them. Its a big market and they are lots of good
options available for boaters out there.
