This is one of the many reasons I had kids.

Tie it to the neighbors mailbox and run down the street.

Lol I just take it off with my hands....

I guess I'm behind the times. I just pull the line off by hand.

I'm behind the times too. Just mindlessly do it while I'm watching something on TV. I don't have a pit crew mentality about that particular project. But it's interesting to see what other people are up to.

Wow, after reading this thread, I'm gonna go tell my wife that I need to buy a stripper!

No, wait.... :punch-2:

Let me rethink that...

I just did.

Me:  "I need to buy a stripper."

Her: "Why?"

In all fairness, she's heard the word "stripper" thrown around here quite a bit.  She wasn't sure what I was talking about.  She told me her first thought was a "stripper clip," which is used to load Mosin-Nagant, Gewehr 88/05, and Mauser 98 rifles.

She's also tolerated me in bed with one or another fishing rod lately.  She's been reading or crocheting, while I was stripping old line and filling new next to her.  This is usually my reading time, but she knows I love tinkering with reels.

We have separate dressers, and I have a screw driven into mine that holds the new spool; tension is by o-rings.  I can sit in bed and fill my reels! :respect-059:

She is a very understanding wife.

Never found the Berkeley gizmo to work for very long before the little rollers got grooved and unable to grab the line. Not even last through the first reel. Never worked at all for line under 15lb.

I like to use a plastic soda bottle with a bolt through the lid on a drill. Since I reverse my Braided Line to get more use out of it I take it off one bottle to another then reel it back on my reel.

Next time you need to change several lines try this. Lay all the rods in the pickup bed, tips pointing toward the rear. Open all bails or freespool. Grab all lines simultaneously and wind on your hand and elbow, (like I ask my wife not to with electrical cords), till there's no line left.
