Featured Replies

Found the only open water I could find here in New York and caught this beautiful 18 inch rainbow trout!

NICE!

I need to get some berkley powereggs like you said.. this guy was caught on corn, but corn only lasts so long

Right on! Absolutely beautiful rainbow. I too went out for some trout today of the sea-run variety (Steelhead) and managed a 12lb doe, but sadly no pics as it came off just as I was about to tail it.

When Bass aren't biting, trout are such an awesome alternative.

Yes you do! My brothers and I landed 11 rainbows through the ice this morning, mostly on power eggs.

That's awesome!

How did you have the corn rigged?

You were targeting trout with corn?

Just on a tiny baitholder hook then a small split shot about .15 oz, 3 inches above the hook and yes we were targetting them with the corn. Corn works like magic at times.

Nice trout + snow! :D

AWESOME!  That means if you have some open water in NY  ... can't be far away for Red Sox Nation!

Congratulations...

Ya it's weird. Only thing I can think of is that the corn looks like eggs floating down stream kinda like beads.

Trout absolutely love corn! They love the smell and taste.

Thanks! Unfortunately for you, and for me, the lakes and ponds still are all frozen shut :/.  The stream was like 33 degrees, it was frigid, but it rarely freezes, and has been flowing all winter so far.
