The Fred Hall show is the biggest event of this type in SoCal, held each year at this time.

I went around to all the bass stuff to check out what is new, great event.

As noted in another thread Loomis had the E6X series to tough and feel, good looking rods and very lightvweight.

*** had new rods on display, the rod blanks also being made in China and use Fuji components, these rods are very lightvweight, splined properly and high quality products for the price points. I was impressed. The *** reels are in the 5 oz range, the lightest and best quality reels handled at the show and combined with thier rods was amazing, but pricy, $300-500 range.

Okuma is coming out with a new lighter weight swimbait rod this fall, would have bought it if avsilble. The rod butt, handle and foregrip are streamlined, new reel seat and lighter stronger blanks MH, H and HX.

I went to the show too Tom, hoping to get a look at the Majorcraft Rods, what a disappointment! They only had an entry level rod that was going for $100. None of the higher end lines like the Corrza,or Corkish. Although the rods were well made, and finished, they just didn't float my boat, plus the logo was in yellow! Looked like Skeet Reese designed I have them. ZPI was there selling handles, bearings, and dress-up reel parts which was a 1st for them. Picked up some SIC bearings for $10 less than I've seen anywhere.

I went last year.... Didn't impress me much too many people too big of lines and not that great of deals.

Only some times you find a really good deal such as some berkly line for 2 bucks got 5 spools
