First you need to read the sticky at the top of this forum..

"Newbies with rod building questions"

Start there it will lead you into all the resources (links) you'll ever need....

Yup, the sticky above is all you need for now...  as you get into it you'll have specific questions.

A friendly caution for you and anyone else considering taking up rod building as a hobby...  if you like it, it will consume lots of time and you will end up spending way more than you used to on factory rods.   ::)

And then you will decide that you want to replace every rod you own with your own builds...  and then you'll start replacing those with nicer rods you built... and if you still have any cash left, you'll look for odd ball stuff to build, like travel rods, fly rods, etc.   ;D

Think I'm kidding?  I wish... I'm on the Mud Hole and FishStiks4U Christmas card list!!

2x, 3x, 4x, 5x......

Want to know why I am not on the boards much anymore? Down in "the room" building rods. Been working outside all day today and just too tired to work on them - yes THEM - tonight.

I actaully heard my wife gasp when she opened the credit card statement this month.... :)

It is addicting.

addicting for sure, i built my first about a month or two ago and am already hitting flechero and alpster up for advice and questions for my next TWO!!

have fun!!

Eddy,

Just move the computer to "the room," that's how I do it... as epoxy is setting, between wraps or as finish is drying, etc.  I just turn around in the swivel chair and log in.  ...lol

The other thing I did was open a separate account that my "allowance" goes into...  so I order all fishing/hunting/rod building stuff with that debit card... she doesn't get nervous anymore!  ...lol  as long as I have the funds, I'm home free!   :) ;D
