Thoughts On River2Sea Clackin' Craw

Featured Replies

I have a River2Sea Clackin' Craw and I cannot get it to have any kind of action unless I reel very fast, and even then, since I am reeling fast, it stays on top of the water.  Have ya'll had a better experience with the lure?

When this bait first hit the scene a few years ago I was pretty excited to try it.  But after reading a few reviews from those who had it, the initial positive wave subsided.  Many were not happy with how the bait worked.

So, I  do not have nor have I fished this bait.

But reading the reviews, anglers are having some success using a small snap and not tying directly to the bait.

Good Luck

I'll try a snap. I already tried using the KIng Sling knot.

I don't own one, but have seen them and they do look cool. If I was going to use one I think I would work it more like a jig then a crank. I think if you let it sink, then give it a little snap and then let it sink again and sit for a couple seconds and then maybe two quick snaps, would work better then a straight retrieve. I would try and make it look like a real crayfish, the only time you see a crayfish swimming is when it's fleeing a predator. If a bass catches it hopping up off the bottom and watches it float back down to the bottom it will come check it out, and most likely take it since it looks so freaking real.

Try a Rapala knot.

Cool idea but doesn't work that well. I found to get any vibration out of the tail I have to stroke it off the bottom.

I tried fishing it like a jig, but it did not have much action and liked to turn over. A jig seems to have more action like a crawdad unless the clacking craw is reeled in very fast. If the clacking' craw is retrieved reel fast (pun intended) it looks great, but is on top of the water.

Nah.

Pretty stoked on the Yo-Zuri Prism Craw though. Can't wait to try that one. Looks and feels very nice.

Yeah, I bought 3 of the Yo-Zuri craws, one for me, one for my son and one for my wife. Hope to get to try them in a few weeks, a few more things to do to my boat trailer and I will be ready.

Let me know how that works.
