Kvd Tour Edition Rod

Featured Replies

I got a great deal on the 6'6 MH casting version.  It was too good of a deal to pass up even without looking at reviews, wanted to see if anyone has used them before and their thoughts.  The link is below.  Any one use these short MH sticks for any other applications besides T-Rig and Jig?  I seem to have some piling up and need to spread them out.

I generally don't use anything under 7' baitcasters but my girlfriend who is shorter than me uses a 6'6" MH for throwing spinnerbaits around shoreline cover, squarebill cranks, as well as plastics and jigs.

Pretty sure KVD uses that one for throwing spinnerbaits into cover. Probably work fine for heavy t-rigs and jigs, but i like a longer rod for that. It has a lot of backbone.

Im on the shorter side anways.  I find I can skip easier with the shorter rods. I already have a 6'8 MH Shimano crucial i use for 1/3-1/2oz jigs and trigs on fluoro.  The rod I use for some single hook shallow reaction baits (spinnerbait, chatterbait, squarebill) def needs to be replaced.  spool it up with some mono and it should off set some of the back bone thats not needed for those applications.

It'd be great for any tight cover situation. People tend to forget that you can be more accurate with a shorter rod. You don't lose a lot of distance either. It'd make a good spinnerbait/swim jig/square bill rod. You could also use it for the smaller paddle tail swimbaits or lipless crankbaits. Bigger isn't always better when it comes to rods.

I have a Quantum Super light 6'6" MH-F because I didn't care for the color of the KVD rod but something with the graphite in Quantum rods that gives them pretty good sensitivity. That is a decent rod and will be good for roll casting spinnerbaits or skipping jigs and it is perfect to hit small spots that are too far to pitch to, congrats on the good deal.
