  1. Yup I know what each one does but more looking for depth ranges that people use each one for best results
  2. Does anyone have any sort of rule of thumb or guidelines for at what depths they change frequencies of 2D DI SI? I have a helix mega SI that I just installed. I know the general rule is the deeper that water the lower the kHz but didn’t know if there is a depth people make that switch at. TIA
  3. Never soldered before. Would a butt connector crimped with shrink wrap work?
  4. Also has anyone found a good way to patch the ram x material? I’ve tried it all with no luck, finally just ordered a plastic welder to try that.
  5. What’s the wire gauge size for the pre wired pelicans? the TM I have comes with a lead of 6 gauge, I think the pelican is 8 but can’t find confirmation anywhere. I just want to make sure I got the right size but connector to put the TM to the pre wired plug
  6. Thanks Keith. Been going for 4 years and never really launched into Sebago, just too big for me but if I know where to look that's a different story. I found some amazing spots on Thomas pond that produce but no lunkers. Two years ago I went to crescent and then up the tenney River to Panther. I had one of the best days ever frog fishing in the river. i got a new depth finder with side scan so I'm hoping it will help me unlock Thomas a bit better I really like that BOW We actually stay in the north east end in Raymond so maybe I'll try that out.
  7. I go to sebago lake every year and bring my cartopper up. We stay in Raymond and Im hoping someone on here has some intimate knowledge of the area. So far I have fished Thomas pond, crescent lake, panther pond and a couple others. Ive found some producing areas in all of them but hoping to find someone that can put me on some big ones. Feel free to PM me if you dont feel like disclosing areas. Thanks everyone.
  8. Wouldn't that be on the left side though? TM is on left of transducer, left side of return shows perfectly Will do tomorrow. It's up front with the TM since it's a cartopper. If say about 12-18 inches to the right of the TM. I'll post pictures tomorrow evening
  9. I recently put in a custom portable Helix 5 SI. I have a portable transducer bracket. I have it marked out with sharpie to make sure it is level when put on the boat every time. My trolling motor is on the left of the transducer however my side imagine shows the right side much darker than the left. I cant figure it out at all. Im hoping I dont need to send out for a new transducer as the tourney season is picking up. Anyone seen something like this before or have any suggestions?
  10. Im looking for a new punch rod. I am on the shorter side and do most of my fishing from a smaller jon boat so I dont want something super long (ie Bubs punch rod coming in at 7'11). It seems like the magic stick is just a shorter version of that rod. both heaby Moderate/fast. Has anyone used this rod for punching? I have a few other rods in the series that I like but need something dedicated for punching. Thanks folks
  11. Im on the shorter side anways. I find I can skip easier with the shorter rods. I already have a 6'8 MH Shimano crucial i use for 1/3-1/2oz jigs and trigs on fluoro. The rod I use for some single hook shallow reaction baits (spinnerbait, chatterbait, squarebill) def needs to be replaced. spool it up with some mono and it should off set some of the back bone thats not needed for those applications.
  12. I got a great deal on the 6'6 MH casting version. It was too good of a deal to pass up even without looking at reviews, wanted to see if anyone has used them before and their thoughts. The link is below. Any one use these short MH sticks for any other applications besides T-Rig and Jig? I seem to have some piling up and need to spread them out. http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=49580016&cp=4406646.4413993.4414792.4414795&fg=Brand
  13. You guys are all missing a big one. A horny toad works GREAT as a trailer too when your fishing shallow and up in the water column
  14. I don't think anyone was really getting on the format, it's the most innovative style to come out in the last 50 years. Everyone likes to see the ups and downs, but knowing the how good the fishing in that area can be, the show is not doing it any justice, which makes for some boring television when you know what's out there. One of the previous commenters brought it up but Timmy Horton taped a show up there and caught some monster LM, including a 7. Of course it's reassuring to see Pros struggle as much as some of us do, but more than anything I want to see what puts them on a winning pattern. Unless some of your clubs are buying what MLF is selling I certainly haven't found any trails using their format yet.
  15. Hi Everyone, Once you identify the grassline you will be fishing, for sake of argument lets say an outside grassline in 8-10 feet. If you cant physically see the grass line what is the best way to follow said grass line without trolling over the top of it and potentially spooking fish. Really concentrating on boat positioning this year and any info would be appreciated! Thanks
  16. Looking for a baitcaster for jerkbaits and some top water. I have narrowed it down to the 6'6 St Croix Mojo Medium/Fast and the *** Black that is 6'7 Medium/Fast. Other suggestions are welcome but I want it under $110 and a shorter rod (Under 6'8). As a side note, when do people usually like to go to a moderate or moderate fast tip? Is it with a stiffer/longer rod?
  17. Thanks folks. It is a bit tough to find the best of both worlds, the KVD Flat 1.5. This is silent as well. Most of the others suggested are either not flat or not silent. Ill keep looking and post anything else I find.
  18. Looking for some suggestions on two different crankbaits. 1) best flat crankbait 2) best silent crankbait 3) any that are best of both worlds? Anything I should focus on for crankbaits in New England since there is no real shad population. I usually go after a blue Gil pattern, chartreuse for stained and overcast days and sometimes the whiter patterns for clear sunny days. Any input would be great, thanks folks!
  19. Hi Everyone, After shelling out the money to get my reels cleaned professionally I decided to learn to do it my self. 1)Save some cash and 2)Fight off the winter blues. I have an array of reels Abu, Shimano, BPS etc. I went out and the Penn Cleaning kit, it contains just grease and oil. I have some of the old boxes for the reels that contain the oil, some others I dont. Are these fine for all purpose cleaning or are the specific cleaners needed to do the job effectively? Thanks
  20. that trailer does look great. Gardner, which omega jig are you referring too?
  21. Thanks for the replies. I can skip a jig just fine, but usually use an arkie style head. I guess if I just keep working with the dirty jigs I will get it down eventually. Good idea adding a wider body, I usually throw a swim jig with a soft swim bait or swimming fluke. Beavers usually dont have action for my liking, I am thinking something more along the lines of a rage craw, or something similar with a longer body.
  22. Alright so I LOVE to swim a jig. Big fan of the dirty jigs and use them a lot. I can skip it to a degree but I'm looking for a bait designed to skip and swim. Anyone have any suggestions? I've found a few but nothing really addresses how well they skip, the head shape by definition will be different but looking for the best or both world and to have a single rod devoted to both.
  23. What size DS goods do you use to do that?
  24. Had a lot of success this weekend with a full size brush hog and punch skirt this weekend. Trial and error I guess.
