Lightest Rod

Featured Replies

I'm looking for a casting rod under $200 probably a 6'10-7' MH 1/4-1oz but really light because I'm looking to get the metanium and thats either 6 or 6.2oz (haven't decided on the 7.4 or 8.5 gear ratio yet) so i want a combo preferably under 11oz

thanks

I love my phenix m1 7'2 mh its a sick rod!!

thats what i was just looking at, either that or the iRod air even though its $250

With a light reel like that a light rod is nice but you need to remember that good balance is more important, and you'll notice it on the water. The Shimano/Jackall Poison Adrena (would be a SICK combo with the met!), Dobyns Champions and Extremes, and Megabass Orochi XX's are some of the best balanced rods on the market and are all in the $250-$400 range.

My Okuma Helios MH/F 1/4-1oz is only 3.5ounces. Right now at walmart its $135. You know with walmart if you dont like it, its very easy to return.

It has good balance as well even with a 5.5oz Core50 feel nice in hand. I dont have a 6oz reel but a 6.5oz CI4 and it is nice feel to it. I dont think it could be classified as tip heavy at all. Ive used/have heavier slightly better balanced rods but when the weight difference is in ounces like 2-3 Ill take the good balance very light weight rod over the heavier slightly better balanced rod.

I have a 7'MH Falcon Bucco Micro with a TourMG100 on it.  This combo is a feather.  Haven't weighted it but I know it is close to being under 7.6oz total. One of my Kinetic's feel heavier by itself and it comes in at 7.5oz.  Not a high priced rod, but I'm sure their new Lowrider 20 would be just as light if not lighter and in the $160-180 mark then the Bucco which runs about $130.

I have ZERO fishing experience with the helios rods but I have held one and like others have said man they are light. check them out if "lightness" is what you want.
