Tuscarora Lake, Pa

Featured Replies

This lake is a 96 acre lake in Tuscarora State Park, PA.  I was wondering if anyone has ever fished it and if so could you give me any tips on fishing it?

I believe its predominantly a trout lake. I've honestly never fished there, though.

DCNR has some good information. Listed as a warm water fishery, it has LMB,SMB, walleye, plenty of pan fish, pickerel, and both Tigers and true Musky, and as noted, stocked with trout. Electric only though. Let us know how it is, so when we head up to Cabelas, we'll have a place to fish.

Yeah, I read that on DCNR also. Was hoping I could see if anyone actually fished it. I was looking at the aerial maps of it which actually shows the channel coming in from the shallow end as well as the shallows along the edges.

If you've read the DCNR reports, than you know font bother fishing below 25', oxygen levels are too low below that. What's interesting about Google Earth, look for the boats, where are they fishing? To me, I like just north of the dam, pads, lay downs, looks "fishy". Good luck.

I have and make lake structure maps of this lake. Boating by number is limited and that helps make this lake a active lake. and the comment about 26ft depth , Most of the lake and its structure is above the 26ft line except for the basin , Thats a good productive reading for a small lake.

Thanks Dog.  I'll be fishing there near the end of June.  If I remember this, I'll definitely let you know how it goes.

I appreciate it Boat.  I was searching online for lake maps of this lake but couldn't find any.  I'd sure love to get my hands on one to get a good look at all of the underwater structure.  I'd appreciate if you'd let me know how I could come about getting one.

I'm reviving this thread because I'm also curious how the fishing is. According to my research of the PADNR biologist reports, this is the best sub-200 acre public lake with the healthiest SMB population.

Im planning on a trip out there maybe Saturday this weekend. If anyone has fished it recently, let us know!

I know it’s about a year since the last comment, but we fish this lake occasionally. Night fishing (especially full moon) always gives us a great experience when fishing for bass. Highly recommend a jitter bug (all black, white/red, or a green/yellow spotted one). Cast along the shoreline and you’ll be sure to hear them coming up out of the water.

^^^^Agreed. Unless you are fishing for panfish this can be a tough lake during the day. If you are fishing for perch keep as many as legally possible. The lake is overpopulated with them. Most of the fishing done on this lake is at night.
