Tuscarora Lake, Pa
Thanks Dog. I'll be fishing there near the end of June. If I remember this, I'll definitely let you know how it goes. I appreciate it Boat. I was searching online for lake maps of this lake but couldn't find any. I'd sure love to get my hands on one to get a good look at all of the underwater structure. I'd appreciate if you'd let me know how I could come about getting one.

Tuscarora Lake, Pa
Yeah, I read that on DCNR also. Was hoping I could see if anyone actually fished it. I was looking at the aerial maps of it which actually shows the channel coming in from the shallow end as well as the shallows along the edges.

Tuscarora Lake, Pa
This lake is a 96 acre lake in Tuscarora State Park, PA. I was wondering if anyone has ever fished it and if so could you give me any tips on fishing it?

Wtb: Abu 2600C, 2500C, 1600C, 1500C, Or Similiar Ambassadeur Reel
I have five of these reels in various sizes. I got them when I bought several rods from a guy and have never used them. I'll post pics this weekend with the corresponding information. I've actually been wanting to post them for sale for a while, I just never got around to it. Actually, I found a post in which I asked questions about them last year. Here's what I have: Reels: AG 4600-CL3 AG 4600-C AG 5500-C3 AG 6500-C3 AG 6500-C3 Now that I look, I see they're not in your size range.

Lake Fishing; Bass Behavior Questions
Alone, I'll be sure to check that out sometime today. Thank you very much. Sam, thank you for your reply. That actually answered what I was looking for about whether bass tend to congregate in one area on congregate in their living areas around the lake as well as answering the question on whether they spawn all in the same area or in different areas around the lake. I had always wondered these things and thought that this is where I would start. If I score you guys will be sure to see some pics.

Lake Fishing; Bass Behavior Questions
Thanks Doc, I'm not an expert either, which is why I posed the question here. Thank you for your response, I've read and have heard those things also but am just lost at how to put them to practice. That's why I'm trying to understand where they are now and where they will go then to give me a better chance of finding said areas to put those principles of drop offs and cover to practice. I do have a topo map of the lake but I guess I'm just lost at this whole thing. Again, I'm tired of just wetting a worm in the water, I want to find them, even if I am unable to catch them at that time.

Lake Fishing; Bass Behavior Questions
Ok, please forgive my ignorance. I'm trying to figure out this bass fishing thing while doing it from a boat. This question will pertain to one lake's demographics in particular to which I can then project your answers to other lakes. The lake freezes, so the question doesn't pertain to winter fishing, it's more along the lines of where they are during the prespawn, where they'll be coming from, and where I should look for spawning areas. I understand that "deep" is relative, meaning that one lake with a maximum depth of 30' can be approached with relatively the same approach as a lake with a maximum depth of 10'. The same principles apply. But I have a few questions. I want to start small and hopefully be able to apply the same applications to bigger lakes but I figure if I can't do this with a small lake then there's no sense in wasting time on a bigger body of water. So I'm fishing a lake that is 165 acres with a maximum depth of approximately 30' near the outlet with rip rap along about 100 yard stretch. Coming out of that section the depth obviously decreases and comes to anywhere between 5' to 8' where there is a lot of vegetation during the warm weather months. I guess my first dumb question would be, do all of these fish, bass, retreat during the winter months to the deepest part of the lake or do they stay in their own general area in the relative deepest section of thier area of the lake? This is the first question I need answered before the spring thaw and prespawn so I know where to even begin my search. Next, spawning areas. In a lake of a relatively small area, will these fish spawn on only one area of the lake or, again, will they spawn in their own relative area of residence? Meaning, will there be one central spawning area or multiple spawning areas around the lake? I guess I'm looking for the technical answers to my questions about bass behavior. I'm the person who needs to learn and understand those basics principles of behavior. I'm tired of throwing a texas rigged worm anywhere that has water, I want to learn and maximize my limited time and effort. Thank you in advance for your time.

30-40 Krag
Thanks Josh, I did join a forum, Krag Collectors Association Forum, and they are great over there. I now understand what people meant by, "Don't clean it." I just want to wipe it down, knock the dust off of it, clean the barrel, and oil the action. I wouldn't dream of stripping it, bluing it or anything else that could be done. I don't think there's cosmoline in the barrel, I believe it's been used at some point. I did see some cosmoline in the magazine cover, in the deep corner.

Thank you for your input Farmer, it's greatly appreciated. I am slowly learning that the term "Clean" and, at least this rifle, do not go well with one another although I use the word "Clean" for lack of a better word. Some have told me to simply use a soft bristled toothbrush on the outside to get the junk out of the cracks and then to use dry rags and light oil on the inside of the barrel and action as long as nothing is a chemical. I just don't know what to do. I want to do it right and not mess it up. I do want to use it, shoot it, but also keep it in my family for generations to follow so again, I want to do it right. I do not even know what patina means, I'll have to look that one up but no, I absolutely will not try to refinish any wood or metal. I just simply want to clean it up and knock the junk off of it and out of it's cracks while trying to preserve it properly. Much like we do with our hunting rifles, clean it off on the outside, clean the barrel and action, and apply a light coat of oil to all metal parts. At least that's what I have in my head but I'm learning that this might not be the case so I haven't touched anything until I get a definitive answer on how to properly do this. - 30-40 Krag
