Chatterbait Bass
i had quite a bit of luck this year with a chatterbait...ive been planning on trying the rage blade but haven't bought any yet.. i don't like the way most others work though.. for me the original chatterbait can be fished slower/deeper and is easier to keep the blade vibrating... these work good by just using them sort of like you would a spinnerbait but they really work great when you slow them down and are just skipping over the top of the bottom or grass.. i consider it like trying to imitate a fast crawdad and not a baitfish... most spinnerbaits are used to imitate baitfish... i think where some people have no luck is trying this with the chatterbaits.. they'll work like that sometimes but for me the best way is to use a color that looks like a crawdad and fish them in and around cover almost like you would a jig and over the top of grass and just off the bottom... i know some people use spinnerbaits in the same way by slow rolling them but ive never been a big spinnerbait fan... i use crankbaits and chatterbaits for most of my fishing..

Your Favorite Knot?
i use the shark knot for almost everything but braid.... i haven't found a stronger knot that i can tie... just google "mark zona shark knot" in videos if you don't know how to tie it... i watched his video a couple times and have been using it ever since...

Buzzbaits
yeah, i know better but still make that mistake... it's a reflex that's hard to control

Buzzbaits
this last season i had better luck with chartreuse and white but white and black also work good.. i think aluminum blades work the best... the trick it to make sure the bottom keeper is pinched on the shaft so it doesn't move. buzzbaits just seem to catch more fish if they make a squeaking sound.. the aluminum blade rubbing on the aluminum keeper is the best way to get that sound.. i don't really have a preferred brand as most all i've tried have caught fish... you need a pretty stiff rod 6'6" or 7' mh probably work the best but i've seen buzzbaits fished with 5'6" to 7'6" rods and it worked... i think the hardest part about buzzbaits is the hookset... you do not set the hook when you see the strike, wait til ya feel it... then set like you would a jig, hard and fast... i usually start out a morning fishing a chartreuse/white buzzbait and fish it until the sun is all the way out or when they stop hitting it... i usually end a day fishing a black buzzbait just as soon as the sun starts to go down and until dark.. i start out fishing them slow but sometimes they want them pretty fast.. if i've tried fast and slow retrieves with no luck i usually switch to a megabass popper and will pop it and walk it until i figure out which they prefer.. when you get on a buzzbait bite it will be fast n furious... also when i'm fishing any topwater bait i have my weightless 5" plastic swimbait ready to throw back to any fish that i miss or just seems to hit at the topwater bait..

New From Missouri
no, i haven't fished it enough to figure it out other than the bass are not on the shallow side of the road... i always end up there trying to get out of the boat traffic and i'm lucky to get a fish.. when i stay out on the main lake i can catch a few but never enough to have them figured out... i like jacomo way better than blue springs... that's why i sold my 82 ranger with a 140 evinrude and got the tracker..lol downgrade in boat but upgrade in fishing... i can also push the tracker off the trailer into a few private ponds with a little help.. i'll keep an ear and eye out next season.. hell i'm probably goin to go somewhere this sunday if it's as nice as they're saying it's going to be..

Grubs
a few weeks ago i caught 5 in about 4 hours using the chompers 5" skirted grub.. i had it texas rigged with a half ounce weight do to the wind... the water temp was 39 degrees and most fish were caught just off the bank in 3 to 6 feet of water... i just fished it real slow only pulling it about 6" each time and letting it sit for a few seconds and then pulling it again..

New From Missouri
hello everyone... i've been fishing for years... started out fishing for a little of everything but over the last several years have more or less stuck to bass fishing... i've never fished in a tournament, only for fun.. i've been on a few other boards since around 08' and have learned several things from them so i thought i'd branch out...lol i've fished long enough that i might have a few things to add.... i mainly fish smaller lakes and ponds... i've got a bass tracker with mercury 25hp just for that reason as one of the lakes i fish has a 25hp limit.. i think this is my 5th boat to date.. the first pic is the boat i have now... the second pic is me in my new office... i wish...lol the third is the last big bass i caught a few weeks ago in 39 degree water....
