Fish Tails

Featured Replies

I need to come up with something to make fish tails for my home made slammer type baits. I want my tails to be a bit different than the slammer ones so I'm looking for my own mold.

Does anyone know of an existing, purchase-able mold of a fish tail?

Would it be possible for me to make my own? (Stratosdadri is all set up for pouring so I can use his pouring room but would need my own mold)

Thanks

I'm not sure about existing molds but you could make your own. With something like a tail you could carve what you want out of wood, seal the tail and then make a mold with it using something like DAP. Or you could just take the tail from a lure you like  and make a mold from it.

What do you want to be different about the tail?

PM or call is fine...

Bunny Strips.

One way would be to pour it into a flat surface ie. cookie sheet to your desired thickness and some kind of homemade cookie cutter in the shape you want.  This will only work for slammer type tails.  Anything with more than one thickness would need a mold Ie. triple trout tails.

More realistic shape, like the BBZ

Russ, have you ever considered a hard plastic or Lexan tail?  Remember the 3:16 bait?  Makes a "clacking" sound...just a suggestion.

Still thinking about your soft tail issue...
