Hey all,

 

About to pick up a used 17' Bass Tracker that's currently equipped w/ a 50HP.  This boat has a steering console, unsure of the details on which type, but most of the waters I'm going to be fishing are 10HP limit so I'll need to put a 9.9 on.  I'd like to replace the 50 w/ a 9.9 and not just mount it side saddle so that I can use the steering with it.  

 

Is there anything I need to look for in shopping for the 9.9 motor?  Can any motor be mounted to use the steering?

    I am no help with your motor question, but if it were me, I'd be making friends at Harbin and Potomac Marine today....or someone else as good over on your side of the county.  I like them both.
